Description: Ward Vintage Caricature Cartoon Poster of Stanford University Men of the 1930s A similar caricature is on file in the Stanford University Library. They are not certain who the artist was, but think he could have been a Leonard Harry Ward of 1933 and their drawing was part of a Beta Theta Pi scrapbook.18" x 25-1/2"The poster is a print of many caricatures where each caricature has the subject's name signed and year in the 1930s and Ward's signature (these are print signatures in the poster, not actual autographs on the poster)The dates on each caricature are 1934-1937We looked up some of the names wondering what the connection is. Ben Henley '37 and Howard L Clark '37 for example both graduated Stanford University in 1937, and served in WWII. Howard went on to executive management at American Express. So these might have been Stanford associates of the artist. Ed Littlefield of '36 was in Phi Beta Kappa and graduated Stanford in 1936, also served in WWII, and went on to business distinctions and was on the Forbes 400 most wealthiest list in 2001 (Wow!).Lawson Little '34 graduated from Stanford became a well-known professional golfer. Used, as-is. Corner and edge tears. Black ink over one of the caricatures. Fold creases, markings, tack holes. Paper is aged and has some indentations and stains. See attached pictures. Glass jar paperweights in pictures are not included in sale. Will be shipped folded as that is how it has been stored for many years. We wondered what Mr. Myers did to warrant having ink on his face. However, under closer examination it looks like this is an artist ink that was accidentally spilled on the poster.
