I restored this vintage piece of cast-iron in the following way. It begins with an electrolysis bath that lasts 24 to 48 hours. It is then hand scrubbed removing any debris after it. It’s rubbed with canola oil and placed into the oven at 400° for 45 minutes. This process is then repeated, and once removed for the second time is rubbed with a final coat of canola oil removing the excess.
