Description: W Butcher coffin plane. It's my understanding that Butcher only made the iron, not the wooden body, and that he only made plane blades for roughly 40 years in the middle of the 1800's. It looks like there is a piece of leather between the iron and wood. Iron is stamped W Butcher Warranted Cast Steel No 15. There are no markings on the plane.
