The box these came in is dated 1981, so these would have come from late 70s or early 80s. These were machine embroidered. Stahl's has been around over 100 years, so I imagine these were top quality for their time. I' sure embroidery machines today are tighter and more precise. These are new/unused, but will have 70s character of quality to them. I do not smell any odd odors on the letters. I am getting small whiffs of smoke from the boxes. I am not sure if it's that old smell or cigarette smell. I know most people smoked then. But, again, I don' smell it on the letters themselves. Please email me with any questions.
