Vintage Berns-Martin Leather Belt Holster S&W Magnum Model Rev w/3.5" Bbl RARE

Description: From my later Father's estate. He was a career U.S. Government intelligence officer. He carried a S&W snub barrel .357 Magnum while in uniform just after the Korean War (1952) and later in S E. Asia. The pistol is long gone but I found this holster among his personal items and souvenirs kept by my later Mother. I'm sure he purchased this holster when he bought the revolver in 1950-51, as one of his co-workers was a partner in a suburban Washington, DC gun shop, near the Marine Base at Quantico, VA. He also had an earlier 38/44 snub nosed revolver that he bought from a U.S. Treasury Agent during WW2, who stayed at his relative's rooming house near the White House. This holster may be for that pistol as they had the same length barrel, but one lacked a sight rib. Holster is in nice condition, but needs a cleaning and leather treatment. It does fit a friend's 1970's vintage 3.5" S&W Magnum, but I was told it may or may not fit earlier Magnum barrels due to differences in the barrel underlugs and barrel lengths over time, i.e. it might fit a 1949 model pistol barrel but not a 1955 pistol barrel of the same length. It may fit a 4" N frame, but I don't have access to one to confirm it Military belt hook attachment has some corrosion and safety strap has some verdigree, both of which will clean up nicely. Holster is nicely marked and complete. Stitching remains tight and extremely nicely done. Muzzle plug is intact and shows barrel impression of my father's pistol. Dimensions are: 6.25" front opening; muzzle plus 1.25" height top to bottom; 5" bottom bend seam from muzzle to first stitches around trigger guard; 3.5" from sight to beginning of trigger guard.
