Description: This rare original 1927 almost antique calendar print is titled “The Spirit of Solitude” by L. Goddard. L. Goddard was a pseudonym for L.G. Woolfenden, a successful Detroit area commercial photographer, and Rudolph Ingerle, a Vienna born fine art landscape artist who lived and exhibited at museums and galleries in Chicago in the early 20th century. "The Spirit of Solitude" features a very risqué image for 1927, with a beautiful woman posing in a semi-transparent gown. Advertising on the calendar features the Bank of May's Lick (May's Lick, Kentucky). Only January 1927 is visible on the calendar pad, but it doesn't look like it is complete. It may have been a calendar sampler. "The Spirit of Solitude" is 1" x 14.75" x 22.75". The calendar print is in excellent condition, with no discernible flaws and beautiful color. The ornate gold frame is well made with closed corners and carved details. The frame does have some chipping (please see photos) and there is some dust behind the glass in the lower left corner. Chuck Olson Legacy Chuck Olson spent over 40 years collecting and traveling the United States in search of unique vintage prints. "The Spirit of Solitude" is from Chuck's private collection.
