Description: We offer for your consideration this vintage Waltham Swiss movement wrist watch. This is a 1960 Waltham wrist watch. But by the 1960s Waltham had stopped making their own watch movements, that were typically used in their larger pocket watches. When they started making wrist watches from around the 1920s to the 1960s. But by the 1960s they started importing Swiss movements for their wrist watches. This is one of those wrist watches. It has a A. Schild SA 1686 movement. This Swiss movement was being produced since 1896 to the following mid century. This works has 17 jewels, It has the Incabloc anti-shock, shockproof feature on the balance wheel. This movement carries the Waltham branding, as well as the "WXO" Import stamp. On the outside, the watch case is chrome plated brass, and it does show some wear and plate loss. There are signs of corrosion. The watch face is beige in color, with an almost woven textile look to it. The hands are slotted Dauphine style. The slots show remnants of glow in the dark paint. But the paint has long since lost its glowing properties. The dots around the outside of the dial have lost their glow as well. The dial has arabic numbers at the 12,3,6,& 9 o'clock positions, with baton indices in between. The sweep seconds hand has a red triangle tip. The acrylic crystal is in very nice condition for it's years, there are no major scratches or crazing. The case diameter is approximately 34 mm. The watch is approximately 10 mm front to back. The back is stainless steel . In the label ring on the back the watch is marked "Antimagnetic", "Shockproof"', "Waterproof". There is also the "WALTHAM" Name in a box. When we opened the back, the seal looked to be in very good condition, but I would not risk going for a swim. If you are a collector, and have a Waltham case laying around that needs a new movement, here you go. The watch band is a vintage Spiedel Twist o Flex. The band was probably an add-on upgrade, but it is still a very cool vintage watch band. If you are a collector of vintage wrist watches, this old Waltham 17 jewel wrist watch will be a nice addition to your collection. There is nothing quite like a manual watch movement in good operating condition
