History/Details: History: · Produced for comic book stores and newsagents in promotion of the 1989 Frew Phantom Comic Book Issue #944A. · The image of the poster is actually a swipe from Frew Phantom Comic Issue #800, 1984. However the text and purpose of the store display poster was to reference Issue #944A, 1989; a story where The Phantom first visits Australia. This issue included (2) Phantom stories, "Wuluti's Secret" and "The Black Fire" by Norman Worker and Carlos Cruz. · The store display poster is unused and measures 17.25” x 12.75” · “Frew” Phantom Publications was founded in 1948 by Ron Forsyth, Jim Richardson, Jack Eisen & Peter Watson. (The Frew name was derived by the last initials of each founder name) Frew publications boasts the longest running English language Phantom comic book in the world. Its 1st issue was published on Sept 9th 1948, and contained the US newspaper reprint; “The Slave Traders”, by Lee Falk & Ray Moore. “Frew” Phantom publications of Australia is still alive and well today, approaching its 1,900 issue.
