In 1965, the film was nominated for the Cannes Film Festival. Script Creation History Background: Sergei Orlov learned about this story in one of the issues of Komsomolskaya Pravda. According to the article published in it, in the GDR they talk about captured Russian tankers who, during the tests of German armor-piercing weapons, escaped from the range in their "thirty-four". The intro shows that this film is based on true fact. The action takes place deep in the rear of Nazi Germany on June 22, 1942. To improve the characteristics of their anti-tank guns, the Germans use captured Red Army tanks as "live" targets. "Mortal crews" of vehicles are manned by prisoners of war tankers and civilians from concentration camps. The film tells about the escape from captivity of one of these crews of the T-34 tank, driven by the driver-mechanic Ivan, an unknown tank ace. A crew of three Red Army men and a fighter of the French Resistance breaks through the enemy's rear to the airfield, meeting Soviet women hijacked for forced labor and destroying the German military on their way. In one of the episodes, driving through a German town and instilling fear in its inhabitants, anticipating a quick victory in the war, the crew gets beer and destroys the monument to the Teutonic knight. Later, in a clash with the Germans, a Frenchman was killed by a bomb explosion, followed by the other two crew members who left the tank. The last surviving Ivan is killed by a bullet from a German punisher after running out of a tank and saving the life of a little German boy crossing the road in front of the Germans.☆Vyacheslav Gurenkov ☆Gennadiy Yukhtin ☆Valeriy Pogoreltsev ☆Valentins Skulme ☆Bruno O'Ya ☆Ervin Abel www.imdb.com/title/tt0314947/ LEMESHENKO ALEXANDER MIKHAILOVICH (1918-1984) Soviet poster artist.
