The photograph is from the 1939-1945 period and has been reproduced and then signed by Obergefreiter Werner Molge Iron Cross. The photo is accompanied by a brief career history. This signed photo forms part of a limited edition of Iron Crosses of the Luftwaffe signed Photograph Series. This is number 20 in the series of 25 Photographs so far issued, produced by ourselves. Each photograph has been handsigned and they are all numbered and certified on the reverse. Each photograph is a limited edition of 210. Obergefreiter Werner Molge Born 10.1925 Hamburg-Atlona Molge finished school in 1939 and then gained an apprenticeship as a toolmaker at VDM Luftfahrtwerke, which was involved in manufacturing propellers. During which time he joined the Flieger HJ, a state run youth organisation that gave him glider training where he gained his ‘A’ class licence in 1939. The following year he gained his ‘B’ class, followed by the ‘C’ and ‘I’ glider class in 1941. In May 1943 he was sent to a work camp in Poland and in July he was drafted into the Luftwaffe and sent to Cherbourg in France for his basic training. Having completed his basic training in January 1944 he was sent to train as a pilot at Flugzeugfuhrerschule A42 at Helmstedt. He was awarded his wings in June 1944 and the following month was posted to Jagdgeschwader 103 at Stolp-Riz Pomerania for fighter training. In August and September he under went advanced training converting to the FW190. In September 1944 he joined II/JG 26 aged 19, one of the youngest flying members. He took part in operation 'Bodenplatte' during which he attacked the 127 Canadian Wing at its base at Brussels-Evere on 31 December 1944 where many aircraft were destroyed on the ground. On the 4 January 1945 he was attacked by Spitfires from No 442 Sqaudron and forced to crash land. On the 3 May his aircraft exploded and he was forced to bale out, a few days later he was captured by the Allies and was hled as a POW until August We usually have lots of other items up for sale so why not have a look
