Description: This antique, likely c.1900, solid brass pipe ashtray is marked “GOLDY”, which is probably the name given to the piece, which was likely a sales token piece given to customers who bought other cast iron goods. It’s also marked with an “H” over an “F” beside a crane with a suspended pot that would be swung into a fire, which is most likely the maker's mark for Highland Foundry in Boston MA. The ashtray itself appears to have been poured into a low-quality mold and then hand signed and manipulated. There are a couple spots, the size of a head of a ballpoint pen, in the side where you can see light coming through as it appears the mold did not fill completely or properly in that area. The ashtray weighs about 2lbs, 7oz.
