Description: This 1972 2LP stereo album from Vanguard's Everyman Classics series (SRV 311/12 SD) features the opera The Fairy Queen, composed by Henry Purcell. As specified on the back: "This album is of the original 1692 version of The Fairy Queen, including the four Act Tunes and the Drunken Poet episode in Act One, but omitting the 1693 additions to Acts Three and Five, and the First and Second Music." The opera is performed by The Deller Consort as well as the Choir and Orchestra of the Stour Music Festival, conducted by Alfred Deller. Album notes are in English, written by John Buttrey. Inside the gatefold is the libretto in English. The upper-left corner of the outer sleeve has been cut off. The cut area has been taped over to ensure no further damage is done (Photo 1). The sleeve shows a small collection index sticker in the upper right corner of the back (Photo 2). Also included is a double-sided photocopy of the original performance's review from the July 1973 edition of The Gramophone. This is one of many titles from an extensive collection of classical LPs and CDs that we will be listing here. All have been carefully stored for many years, played only on premium equipment, and show little to no wear.
