Description: A Rare Indian Head / Buffalo Nickel In U.S. Currency, it was originally 5 cents aka a nickel. Regarding this specific Indian Head/Buffalo nickel, the date is worn off since the coin was in circulation for many years. However, these coins were minted between 1913 to 1938 by the US Treasury Department in the San Francisco Mint. The images on the coin were designed by sculptor James Earle Fraser. There were no more such coins made after the 25 year minting period. While the date is no longer evident, other distinctive writing IS still very legible and meaningful. On the front of the coin (the Indian Head, as it is called) is the word “LIBERTY.” On the back of the coin (The Buffalo) is marked: “UNITED STATES OF AMERICA” “E PLURIBUS UNUM” and “FIVE CENTS” A great coin for any collector.
