Description: Pope St Pius Xand Holy Eucharist Single Decade Rosary Beautiful single decade rosary with a tiny, vintage 3/8" silver-toned medal with the image of Pope St Pius X on one side with the words "Blessed Pius X", which means the medal was made between 1951 when he was beatified and 1954 when he was canonized. On the back is "Roma". Although the medal is very old it has just a bit of wear and a great shine. Because the medal is rare and an antique - over 69 years old - I had to pay quite a bit more for it so the price of this chaplet reflects that. It's so tiny that I felt it would be nice to add a 7/8" oval, new nickel silver medal which has the Blessed Sacrament on one side and Sacred Heart on the other. The 1-1/2" silver-toned crucifix and both medals were made in Italy. I designed and handmade the chaplet in our home in the USA. All eleven beads are 8 mm. The single Our Father is a gold-toned metal rose bead. The ten Hail Mary beads are genuine Czech glass, faceted and fire-polished, in a ruby red/crystal bicolor, in keeping with the Holy Eucharist theme. About 10-1/4" long, chaplet comes gift boxed and with the following:Carry pouchRosary & Divine Mercy pamphletsThe 15 Promises of Mary cardPope St Pius X prayer cardBlessed Sacrament prayer cardSacred Heart prayer cardgift bag and tissue paper Guiseppe Mechiorri Sarto was born in 1835 (to a poor family) and was Pope from 1903-1914. He was devoted to the Blessed Sacrament and issued a decree which changed the age of First Communion from age 12 to age 7; he encouraged frequent Sacrament of Penance to receive the Eucharist worthily and active participation of the faithful in the Mass. He is still known today as the "Pope of the Blessed Sacrament". He strongly opposed Modernism as a combination of every heresy the Church has dealt with in the past, and encouraged liturgical reforms and scholastic theology. He started the update on the Code of Canon Law although did not live to see it done. He was a Third Order Franciscan with a strong sense of personal poverty; filled the Apostolic Palace with refugees from the 1908 Messina earthquake; and gave homilies from the pulpit which was rare during that time. With a strong devotion to the Blessed Mother and a reputation for piety and holiness, he was beatified in 1951 and canonized in 1954. His body was found to be incorrupt (even though he had not been embalmed) when exhumed for the beatification process in 1944. The inscription on his original tombstone read: ""Pope Pius X, poor and yet rich, gentle and humble of heart, unconquerable champion of the Catholic Faith, whose constant endeavor it was to renew all things in Christ". He is now located near the tombs of saints John Paul II and John XXIII.The prayer cards which come with our rosaries, medals and pictures are home-made, created using a "greeting card" program on a computer and printed in full color on nice quality paper. Although they are not like the usual smaller professionally printed prayer cards, most of our customers prefer them since they are like a pamphlet with 4 "pages" and several images, prayers, patronages and often other information about the saint or Catholic devotion.
