Bovey Pottery, Wemyss, Elton Pottery and Thomas Mayer sold surplus stock to Jan Plichta, a Czech immigrant and wholesaler living and working in London. He never manufactured or decorated pottery but, through the 1930s to 1950, he bought in bulk from these companies and marketed their stock under his Plichta brand .
