Description: A very rare Spanish Colonial period altar oil painting on a single board wood panel of the Virgin Mary and Christ, early 19th century. It is Peruvian or Bolivian in origin. Judging by size and old nail holes this was most likely originally part of an altar for worship. Painting has general surface wear, scattered paint, toning, typical small marks/bumps/losses to panel, holes seen from old nails, old repair verso to prevent shrinkage cracks, etc. Please see all photos for condition.
