Description: Offered for your consideration is a pair of vintage CAMBRIDGE SOUNDWORKS 4 inch mid/bass woofers that were original equipment in my CAMBRIDGE ENSEMBLE speakers, manufactured c.1996. These drivers may have been used in other CAMBRIDGE models from this era, but the buyer is fully responsible for assessing their suitability for their intended application. So, please take a look at my large photos, the measurements, and read the remaining description to decide if these capable CAMBRIDGE woofers should be yours. This pair of CAMBRIDGE woofers is in clean, excellent condition. The paper cones are structurally flawless and so are the voice coil dustcaps. Plus, the black-enameled steel baskets are in terrific shape with no dings or large scratches, and the sizeable magnet structure is perfect aside from some faint oxidation. And, the +/- terminals are keyed for polarity (red gasket side = pos.) and have never been soldered on the spades. Most importantly, the aged original polyurethane foam suspension was just replaced with modern polyether foam surrounds correct for this uncommon platform. They’ve been fully tested after refoaming and sound terrific—strong and clear with fast, detailed midrange and stout low-end for the size. I also tested their DC resistance at a perfectly-matched 5.4Ω each, consistent with a 6-8 ohm nominal driver rating. Lastly, the baskets measure 4” square (5⅜” across from the rounded corners), they stands 2¼” tall (not incl. the surround roll), and the mounting holes are spaced 3¼” adjacent / 4⅝” diagonal apart, c-t-c.
