Description: An original lithograph print of "Appearance of Fort Sumter on Sunday Afternoon, August 23d, 1863: Sketched from the 'Beacon house' on Morris Island" by artist W.T. Crane. Signed "HQ of the Dept of the South / August 23, 1863 1 p.m. / Official" over signature of General Q.A. Gillmore (the signature appears hand-signed but it is a facsimile). Gen. Gillmore included this print in his official reports of his operations at Charleston. To a northern audience, it emphasized the destruction and seizure of federal property by the Confederates. The overall size is about 13 1/4" x 9 1/2" with a visible size inside the mat of 12" x 7 1/4". Good condition with old folds, edge wear and some tearing on the folds as shown. Displays really well. A rare piece of civil war memorabilia and a superb addition to any collection. I ship every day the post office is open with your item safely packed the way it deserves to be. I always combine shipping and will refund back any overage when you buy multiple items. Please see my store for more museum quality artifacts.
