REED, a Godly Man a,d vocal opponent of slavery! He was active in Underground Railroad to Canada...Church Motto was 365 Days For God!..Abolitionists saw slavery as a violation of natural rights and a system of cruel oppression. They argued passionately against its economic, social, and political justifications. The church itself was completed and dedicated in 1882.D.E. Reed was a pastor and abolitionist. He was a pastor at the ME Church in Mancelona for many years and was a vocal opponent of slavery. He helped to organize the Underground Railroad in Mancelona and provided safe passage to many slaves on their way to freedom. He was ordained as a minister in 1845 and began his pastorate at the ME Church in Mancelona in 1847. Reed was a strong abolitionist and believed that slavery was morally wrong. He spoke out against slavery in his sermons and helped to organize the Underground Railroad in Mancelona. Reed was a courageous and compassionate man who dedicated his life to helping others.
