Antenna and 9:1 Balun is a simple but proven design that will give SWL’s an outstanding listening antenna for any shortwave radio or SDR set up! With a HUGE CAPTURE AREA, the Longwire Antenna is a design that ham radio ops and SWLers have used for decades. It is a true “STRETCH ‘N PLAY” Antenna!! All you have to do is literally, stretch it out and plug in the coax. It even comes with a 30’, of high quality RG58, shielded coax feedline! (The color of the insulation of the coax and antenna wire may vary. At Present it is black, but can change at any time.) No CHEAP RG174 coax Used Here! Coax is terminated with a communications standard PL-259 coax plug. Adapter plugs are available if your radio has a different coax socket. See Universal Radio web page for these adapter plugs if needed. These adapters are also sold on Ebay by other vendors. Ask if you need a longer coax feed line. I can make a package just for you!! This Super Longwire Antenna is designed for SWL and ham Receiving applications only. It is Not for transmitting purposes. This antenna is handcrafted by a real antenna pro, Lowbander, with over 50 years of operating experience, and an ARRL DXCC HONOR ROLL member, who knows what real DX is, and a holder of an FCC Amateur Extra Class License. Lowbander has carefully handcrafted this antenna to hear the weak ones! Works great with Realistic DX-394, and other Radio Shack radios and any other sw receiver with a coax socket! It can be used effectively on all the shortwave bands! The Super Longwire is rugged and should be able to withstand just about any weather extreme. Made of pure, 16 gauge, stranded, tinned, insulated copper wire(color of insulation may vary), it is fed thru a ferrite, voltage, 9:1 Balun impedance transformer. The thick insulation on the antenna wire adds strength and makes much stronger that bare copper wire. It has been cut and tested on all the popular Shortwave bands. The Balun helps smooth out the high impedance bumps commonly seen on end fed antennas and clearly reduces common mode noise pickup from nearby sources such power lines, street lights, A/C motor noise, computer and monitors, etc.! Each antenna has been tested on the MFJ-259B Antenna Analyzer. Even if you can't fit 50' in your yard in a straight line, you can do like savy hams have done for years and bend it down or to the side in an inverted L shape configuration with little effect on performance! Instructions will be INCLUDED IN THE PACKAGE. The antenna comes with an antenna end insulator. The balun enclosure has a handy eye bolt on the back end so that users can hang the insulator from a mast, tree, house or any high support. Wise users may want to attach a pulley to their mast or support and attach some nylon cord or rope to the eye bolt so it can be lowered and raised from the ground! The antenna comes with 30' of high quality coax for low loss with a standard coax pl-259 connector. Even if your radio doesn't have a coax socket, inexpensive adapters plugs are available in almost any electronics store. An instruction sheet is included with the antenna for easy installation.
