Description: Here we have a beautiful antique Trade knife, from the 1870's. A knife, a skinner for buffalo or beaver, having dark wood scales, and brass pins, and decorated with brass domed tacks; a favorite style of adornment used by the Natives for their prized items. These knives were shipped in wooden casks to the Frontier by knife manufacturers from Europe and the East Coast for trade with the Natives and Trappers. A fantastic utilitarian tool, or defensive piece, a treasure from the High Plains and West, far from being in excellent condition, but with a fantastic patina appropriate to its age, and harsh life. A full 14 3/4" long. (The postcard is being shown for a context). A small packing fee is added to shipping.
