MIRIAM HASKELL SIGN Rope Lariat Tahiti Peacock Faux Pearls AB Rose Montée Blood Red Seed Beads & Gilt BrassFor your consideration, a magnificent single string/strand rope/flapper length necklace designed and hand made for Miriam Haskell CIRCA 1950-60’s. It was inherited from a family member in 1990’s. It has been in storage since then. The design is rare and hard to find.The design features Tahiti Peacock simulated baroque pearls, each approximately 8mm. The pearls are separated by gold plated spacer seed beads. The necklace is a lariat, so there is no hook or clasp. The necklace is fastened by wrapping or typing around the neck. A small hallmarked hang tag signed “MIRIAM HASKELL” is attached to one side of the necklace near the extension chain. The extension chain is made of brass wired small Tahiti Peacock simulated pearls, each approximately 8mm. At the end of the extension chain, are tassels with two intricately hand beaded strawberry figural dangles. The dangles are beaded with of blood red seed beads, a black simulated Tahiti peacock pearl and gold gilt bead cap which is hand wired with AB rose montée. The necklace is fairly long, so it can be draped with other necklaces down the bodice. It will go around the neck at least twice maybe 3 times depending on your neck measurement, The dangles can be worn to the front, draped to either side of the chest, or at the back of the neck.The faux peals, beads and brass accents used in construction of the necklace are of the best quality and contribute to its smooth finish, exquisite beauty and well preserved condition. It will appreciate in value over the years if gently worn and carefully stored. DIMENSIONS/WEIGHT: All measurements are approximate and taken at longest/widest points. The extension chain allows the necklace to be worn at various lengths. Length ~ 70” end to end including the extension chains and dangles.Weight ~ 140 grams. CONDITION: Please note this is pre-owned vintage jewelry which has been worn but looks quite new. It has been in storage in a dust free and temperature controlled environment for many years. l examined the necklace carefully. I have not noticed any flaking, peeling, stripping or bruises on the nacre of the pearls. The pearls have retained their beautiful rich vibrant luster. The AB clear rose montée clusters all glitter, the gilt brass bead caps and “J” hook are also all well preserved. I have not seen any patina on the brass fittings, but there is some tarnish. There are no lose or broken wires or missing seed beads. There is no stretching of the threading of the necklace. Overall, this piece is in excellent condition, like new.Please note that tarnish and patina are part of the nature of brass and this develops over time.
