Description: Mid-century ceramic vase designed by Marianne Starck for Michael Andersen and Sons Pottery (MA&S), features a semi-glossy glaze in gray with pale cobalt blue hand-painted pattern, original label attached on the bottom, made in Denmark.MA&S was founded in the 1880s (from an earlier 18th Century Pottery) on the island of Bornholm, Denmark - one of the major centers of Danish pottery production during the 19th and 20th Centuries. Marked with the 3 herrings mark, which was used from 1930 on. The pottery is best known for its modern design pieces produced from the 1950s through the 1970s.German-born Marianne Starck (1938–2007) was one of Denmark’s leading ceramic designers in the 20th century. She is most known for her time with the ”Michael Andersen & Son” factory.
