Description: Louis Vuitton vintage steamer trunk purchased around 1992 from an antique store in Fredricksburg, TX. The trunk size is 30 W X 17 X 21 H. The lock reads BTE S.G.D.G. (the TE is underscored) with an imbossed "B" where you would normally find a lock number, I have no idea what this indicates. Unfortunately there are no serial numbers near the label, they have probably faded away, but I have included a detailed photo of the label. I have left the trunk in its original vintage condition, the leather could be cleaned and conditioned and the brass polished and it would truly shine. I bought the piece from The Homestead, a very reputable antique store, on consignment. When I purchased the trunk the owners shared a story with me about the man that originally brought the piece in to be sold. He said he was from New Mexico, and he told the owners that the trunk had once belonged to Georgia O'Keeffe, who passed away in 1986. Also of note, if you look carefully where the "oaky" has been stenciled on the sides of the trunk, it looks like there was originally a stenciled "B" that has been taken off underneath "oaky". I reached out to Louis Vuitton, but since there is no serial number and no number on the lock, all they could give me was the approximate date of trunk circa 1900-1908. Honestly I have no way of knowing if the trunk did belong to Georgia O'Keeffe at one time, it was an interesting story told to me and I'm passing the story along to the next owner. I used this trunk for a few years as an end table, it is the perfect size. The past 10 years it has been wrapped up carefully in a cedar closet. If you have any questions about the trunk please feel free to message me. I stated local pick up only, but can give other shipping options if interested. Some interesting things I've noticed about the trunk. An embossed "B" on the lock where numbers would normally be located If you look closely on the sides of trunk, it looks like it originally had a monogramed "B" which appears to be stenciled over with "OAKY"Brass handle, corners, nailsThe original leather strap is still attached which is rare for this age of trunkAll internal baskets and drawers are intactEverything is original to trunkEmail from Louis Vuitton regarding age:In order to help you and trying to find a precise date, I will need lock number at least. According to the inside label, your trunk was probably sold between 1900-1908.Best regards, -Bleue-Marine Massard LOUIS VUITTON
