Description: LIMB CAST of Petrified Wood (or REED, PALM, BONE?) because of the Polished End having highly dense tiny dots upon close examination. You can see them in the photos. Very solid and dense specimen with a finely Polished End. Although this piece is unidentified the Polished FACE has tightly packed tiny dots if close examination that suggests the specimen is from a Reed Family of Vegetation or a Palm Specie or even the remains of an animal Leg Bone? The collector where was acquired called it Petrified Wood but my opinion is that it likely is SOMETHING ELSE that is outside the scope of my expertise. So here is a challenge and a wild card! Sets very calm for display and appears to be an end cut from a branch or maybe a stalk or maybe a portion of an animal leg FOSSIL? Great specimen to reverse engineer and back track its origins for yet another challenge of Geologic Fossil History! Measures about 4.25 in x 3.75 in x 2 inches at max margins and specimen weighs 1 pound 13.5 ounces.
