Description: This large vintage lot of Smokey the Bear paraphernalia has 57 pieces. I will try to list and describe them to the best of my ability. There are 14 various bookmarks. One has a duplicate, and two are triplicates. An Outdoor Fire Safety pamphlet from the United States Department of Agriculture Forest Service. 1990 A 12 inch ruler from the Virginia Division of Forestry. A matchbook cover from the Rangeley Inn and Motel in Rangeley, Maine. A Smokey fuzzy sticker just under 1 and 1/2 inches wide. A small almost 2 inch Smokey decal. Two patches. One is an embroidered face of Smokey that says Think…..Thanks. It measures 3 and 1/2 by 2 and 3/4 inches. The other is a FOREST SERVICE DEPT. OF AGRIC. patch. It measures approximately 2 inches by 2 and 1/4 inches. This next one is rare. Smokey the Bear and Disney team up to create a wonderful large heavy sticker.? It depicts Smokey’s head in an upper corner, with Disney’s Bambi and all his animal friends throughout the rest. It says “Only you can prevent forest fires. We can’t”. It measures 6 and 1/2 by 4 and 1/2 inches. As I stated before, the paper is much thicker than most stickers. I checked the Roman numerals at the bottom of the card on Amazon, MCMXLII, and it replied 1942! A small Smokey advertising paper from the California Division of Forestry. It depicts Smokie driving a jeep, carrying a young family. It’s about the size of a dollar bill. This one shows a very little age ware at the top edge, and the slight yellowing that comes with age. A USDA Forest Service calendar booklet from 2001. It shows Smokey saluting, and reads “A salute to RUDY WENDELIN 1910-2000. He was a Smokey artist from 1946 to 1994. A plastic silver token featuring Smokey. One unused Smokey postcard from 1966. It has a faint number and letters written in pencil at the back top close to where the postage stamp would go. The postcard measures 5 and 1/2 by 3 and 1/2 inches. 1966. One Smokey whistle keychain 2 and 3/4 long. The whistle no longer works. A green advertising pencil that says “Help Smokey Prevent Forest Fires”. Finally, a set of 28 colorful picture cards encouraging fire safety to children and adults alike. This is a REMEMBER 50 …SMOKEY HAS FOR FIFTY YEARS special set of cards. They measure about 5 by 3 inches. There is a slight crease in the top left hand side of the top card. The paper stock is in very good condition. It suffered the ravages of time very well. You will notice some “time yellowing”, but that can’t be helped. This is a wonderful start for a new collector, or a couple of rare finds for the established collector.
