He earned a Ph.D. in political science from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst. After teaching at several colleges and universities, Jerry left academia to pursue a career in painting, which he had been studying all his life. He was the founder and Executive Director of Red Umbrellas, an outdoor exhibition group in San Francisco. In 2004, he moved to Lake Como in Italy, where he currently lives with his wife in Bellagio and where he has a gallery and teaches painting workshops. In 2013 he was named an American Impressionist Society Master. He writes on American politics and art and has produced a DVD, IMPRESSIONISM: The Authentic Method. Fresia is the best contemporary painter of Lake Como and the Lombard Prealps. Fresia is an incredible high-key artist like Turner and Lloyd Rees. There are only a few artists who can paint like this.
