Description: From the Irish Free State years here are a pair of stablemates that have been together for some time. Dated 1928 & 1930, they are both well worn and heavily circulated. Through this wear, the stablemates have taken on a ghost like appearance. I call them ghost horses. The 1930 coin has also been battered, and as evident from the pattern of wear, is slightly dished. These coins deserve respect for having done the job for which they were made.... keeping the Irish economy moving. Although they are not valued as highly as coins deposited in collectors cabinets, these coins are remarkable artefacts from the past, and worth a place in any collection.
