Description: Exquisite hand-painted Japanese Sugar Bowl (no lid). It is decorated with bamboo leaves and stalks all around with actual indentation into the piece giving it tridimensional texture. The finish feels like a sandy raised glaze, adding to all the different textures of the piece: the leaves, the stalks of bamboo and the glaze. Single stalks represent prosperity, strength and resilience, while multiple stalks denote happiness, wealth and financial success. Unfortunately, this bowl is missing its lid and has been used at my mother's home as a flower vase since I can recall The round bowl has no base but has a straight vertical rim on top. It is 5" tall by 5" in diameter at the broadest. The upper edge narrows to a 3" opening. It is a heavy piece at 2 pounds, even as it looks so dainty and delicate. Since it has no lid, it can certainly be used as a flower vase, following the art of Ikebana as in the example on the last photo. We do not ship outside of the Continental USA or to a PO Box. Whenever possible, we use recycled material for our shipping while always protecting your purchase. Together we can keep the planet clean and safe. Recycle, reuse, repurpose. Happy hunting.
