Description: Personal Letter from George Halas to a Catholic priest (who was a friend of my family's). I have not authenticated this item and I have not verified the signature. I do not guarantee authenticity; however I provide the following origin story: Father Otte was a childhood friend of George Halas; Father Otte was also a friend of my father's. Although Father Otte lived in California when he knew my family, he was a die-hard Chicago fan because of his connection with George Halas. My father had season tickets to the San Francisco 49ers for years and on the occasions when the 49ers played against the Chicago Bears, Father Otte always attended games with me and my father. I don't know the story behind this specific letter, but given the connection described above, I believe it is authentic (but again - I do not guarantee authenticity with this posting). I can verify the accuracy of the contents - I was a child at the time - but I clearly remember visiting the Father Otte's chapel and I remember Father Otte proudly pointing out the new stained-glass window. The letter was found amongst my father's personal items when he passed away. I don't understand why it was laminated; perhaps Father Otte gave it to my father as a Thank You memory for taking him to the football games? Feel free to email me if you have any questions.
