Description: Fyprel Butyl Rubber HazMat fire suit Marked as size Large. Easily fits a 6'-0" 180 lb man. Found buried in the back of a storage this is a new, never used, Fyprel Butyl rubber fire fighting suit. It was meant to protect a fire fighter from hazardous chemicals and the heat of a fire and is two separate suits in one set. It is designed as an air tight suit and must be used with an air tank or other provision for breathing air. First there is a Butyl rubber enclosure suit. It has rubber soled shoes molded onto it, a heavy gold tinted face shield and removable airtight gloves. There is a drysuit zipper up the back and also a zipper up the chest to allow access to air tank controls/hook ups. Butyl straps go around the ankles to help secure things. The rubber gloves are attached to a plastic cone which slips over a matching cone attached to the sleeves. Once the gloves are in place a piece of rubber attached to the sleeves rolls over the plastic cone on the gloves to make the seal. There are vents on the back to let air out so that the suit doesn't inflate. The second part of the set is an aluminized outer suit to reflect the heat. It is rear entrance with a velcro closure that runs up the back. The hood snaps around the face shield. The gloves have velcro which mates them to the suit. The boots slip on and are cinched with a strap over the ankle. The set up is probably around 40 or more years old and in excellent condition --- even has the instruction sheet sealed in the envelope!!!! It probably belongs in a museum, but you can have it instead!! If you are creative you can rig hoses on a full face respirator thru vent openings and wear the suit without an air tank.
