Description: Early mid 1800's - Civil War Era original large wooden wagon canteen. Remains in very nice condition. Canteen is from an Arkansas private museum estate. Undoubtedly, has a very interesting history, but now left to one's imagination whether it was used during the western gold rush, Civil War, Indian War-the possibilities are endless. Approx. measurements: overall height 17" with 12" tall sides, bottom is 14" wide and top is 12". 10" deep at the bottom and 8" at the top. Iron bands are blacksmith made. Bottom band is firmly attached, top band is loose. The wood has shrunk, leaving gaps between the slats. Photos show condition.
