Disney Dollar 1987 Rare 1st Series MISTAKE Single-A Serial # DISNEYLAND ONLY

Description: This 1987 Disney Dollar is the original A Series sold in Disneyland. There were 3 series issued in the first year of production (1987). The first series (this bill) contained the mistake on the top, right, front side which has a printed warning- MAY BE USED AS LEGAL TENDER ONLY AT DISNEYLAND. The dollars could be used in both Disneyland and Disney World but the 1st series (serial numbers beginning with A) contained this phrase in error. This minting error was fixed in the second issue (Type 2, A*****A Series). The corrected bills now read MAY BE USED AS LEGAL TENDER ONLY AT DISNEYLAND AND WALT DISNEY WORLD. Therefore, this is a very hard to find minting error bill. This first printing consisted of only 870,000 $1 bills and 176,000 $5 bills. They were printed by DPI Printers in Battle Creek, Michigan, US, and engraved by the U.S. Banknote Corp. The second series (1987A), released at both parks, the wording changed to May be used as legal tender only at Disneyland and Walt Disney World. Additionally, the type of paper was changed to no water-mark so that it would be more resistant in Florida’s climate.
