Description: DE LUXE HiFi 6 Transistor Subline STR-7 AM Radio 1964 Serviced Works Excellent Vintage VTG Made in Japan, it isn’t often when I say precicely when a radio was made. This one is stamped on the inside 3-20-1964. The radio works like new and in very lightly used condition. If you’d like to read my description of the work I’ve done that has restored this radio to full performance, please read on: This radio came to me 10-2-2024 with a note attached that said: “Makes Noise”. (well, that narrows it down). When powered up, it squealed like crazy. That is a typical sign of an open capacitor in the AFC circuit. I replaced its three capacitors which repaired the radio and returned it to full performance. It’s loud. Volume control goes smoothly from totally silent to blazing overload loud. It produces a clean and clear sound. It’s sensitive. I was able to tune my favorite weak stations I use to verify a radio is working properly. It is. It’s small. Smaller than a typical transistor radio. For a small size mini-radio, performance is excellent. It works just as well as any larger radio I’ve ever encountered, which is unusual. Generally, micro-radios are diminished in some regard. Sensitivity, ease of tuning… something. Not this one. I would also like to add that its controls are exceptionally smooth and precise. It’s clean, glossy, reflective, and shows very little signs of use. Nothing missing. Nothing broken. No chips. No cracks. The cabinet does show very light scuffing and hairlines where it has been inserted in and out of its case. The front nameplate is perfect and reflects like a mirror. It comes with its original leather case which is also in excellent condition. Nothing missing. Nothing broken. Soft. Subtle. Its stitching is clean and totally intact. It comes with its original earphone and its little case. I service almost all the vintage radios I sell on eBay.
