Description: "Sunset over Lanai" was painted in 1984 and purchased from Center Arts Gallery, Maui, HI in 1986. This beautiful painting is one of a kind oil painting on panel, matted and framed with a cream colored fabric makes it stand out. In the early 80's, Lassen used an old Dutch Masters' style of "glazing" - a time consuming process of putting down many layers of pigment, separated by layers of lacquer. This style allows light to refract between different levels and distances in the image. At the time of purchase, Mr. Lassen was present in the gallery when he signed the back of the artwork. Mr. Lassen later became one of the worlds renowned seascape artists with galleries in Maui and the Forum Shops in Las Vegas. I've owned this piece since its purchase in 1986 and now is time to let someone else enjoy its beauty. The Certificate of Authenticity is available with purchase.
