Description: Carton 7x50**VERY RARE**TITANIC COATED**ATTENTION COLLECTORS**Made in Japan**. You read that correctly..."Titanic Coated", was a buzzword a Japanese Marketing team called their Titanium coated optics designed to prevent glare. A very small number must have slipped into the American and European market before someone alerted them to the unfortunate naming convention. I say a small number but I have no idea how many still exist due to the fact I have never seen another example. I have searched for years on EBay and various birding and binocular forums for one with the Titanic Coatings and never found a reference. Of any that might have survived I doubt you will find one in this nice of condition. This made it difficult for me to assign a value to. It is much akin to a double stamped or mis-struck coin in it's rarity. If you wish to own a piece of unique history in the Japanese optical World and reminder of an embarrassing gaff once made, this pair is for you. In addition to being rare and collectible, it is also a fantastic performing pair of 7.1 7x50 binoculars in remarkably good shape for their age. It has a few small marks and rubs on the paint. On the underside it has a few nicks in the armor but in every respect it is in great condition. The glass is wonderful with beautiful blue/purple coatings.
