Thus was born one of the most emblematic Azorean clubs.Sport Clube Lusitânia was declared as an Institution of Public Utility, having been awarded the Medal of Sports Merit - Gold Silver of the Municipality of Angra do Heroísmo, on February 27, 1977. Lusitania proudly bears the epithet of "the most champion club of the Azorean champions", a title justified by the rich history of the Club, which has always been at the forefront of Azorean sport, where it exercised an almost absolute dominance for three quarters of a century, which earned it the more than 500 cups it won.
