The stamp been previously hinged. Background To Issue: Designed by Blamire Young based on the (then) Postmaster-General (Mr Frazer), the Kangaroo and map series was the first uniform stamp of the Commonwealth of Australia and replaced the colonial issues still in use. The design was produced after others submitted for a stamp design competition that attracted over one thousand designs from 533 entrants, were rejected.
