Interesting and uncommon late 18th century American produced engraved map. Identifies a number of geographical curiosities, including "Hindoostan" (India); Persia (Iran); "Thibet" (Tibet); Nipon "Japan"; etc. Longitude given from Philadelphia. Curious shape for Arabian peninsula due to projection used. Overall clean, light offsetting from original folding, bottom blank margin slightly uneven & rumpled with a couple of minor short archival tape repairs to reverse along fold lines, still nice looking example of one of just a handful of maps printed in America of the region before 1800. Original fold line(s) as issued. Lower right blank margin trimmed close as issued to facilitate folding. Sheet measures c. 10 1/4" x 8 1/2" Engraved area measures c. 9 1/4" x 8".
