Description: Method of payment Postcard: Pre-WWI era card; Artillery Training; card has edge cut at bottom (see pictures); otherwise general wear; rounded corner design; Printed in Great Britain by Valentine & Sons (see info below) Valentine & Sons Co. (1907-1909) 58 West 15th Street, New York, NY The New York branch for Valentine’s of Dundee, Scotland. Another office later opened in Boston, Massachusetts. Published view-cards depicting scenes throughout the Country. While many of these cards were printed in the United States in their later years, they have the exact same distinct look of the tinted halftones that were printed in Great Britain. All cards are numbered. In 1909 they merged with the Hugh C. Leighton Company of Portland, Maine to become Leighton and Valentine. Size: Standard (Approx 3.5" x 5.5") All postcards mailed in a plastic sleeve with stiffener. Condition: Good - General wear BUT has bottom edge cut - See photos for details and the Grading System Description below. Front & back shown. No marks, bends, or creases. No writing or postmarks. A clean and fresh card. Seldom seen. Near Mint: Like Mint but very light aging or very slight shading from being in an album. Excellent: Like mint in appearance with no bends or creases, or rounded or blunt corners. May be postally used or unused and with writing and postmark only on the address side. A clean, fresh card on the picture side. Very Good: Corners may be a bit blunt or rounded. May have minor surface marks. May have almost undetectable crease that does not detract from overall appearance of the picture side. May have writing or postally used on address side. Good: Corners may be noticeably blunt or rounded with noticeably slight bends or creases. May have surface marks. May be postally used or have writing on the address side. Fair: Card is intact. Excess soil, stains, creases, writing, or cancellation may affect picture. Could be a scarce card that is difficult to find in any condition.
