The fabric is a beautiful heavy weight pure linen with a floppy texture and a gorgeous natural colour. I believe this sheet has never been used! The bed sheet has a fine large hand embroidered ML monogram, crafted with high relief satin stitches and dots. The top hem has a nice classic large pulled thread work. A stunning hand crafted work for a dowry unused sheet. This antique dowry sheet is in a fine unwashed condition with just a couple of rust spots that will disappear with the proper product, CF the pictures, reflected in the price. Those fil de lin bed sheets are the purest fluid fabric, supple, medium to heavy weight with a stunning floppy hand and a silky touch. They are typical antique linen trousseau dowry with a wonderful tactile texture. These bed sheets are usually wide, embroidered with beautifully crafted monogram and openworks that run the whole width and on the discovery, for the turn down of the sheet. Some of those exceptional sheets were meant to be exposed, we call them ceremonial sheets. The sheet overflows from the bed with a multitude of ornaments, laces and embroideries. The fibres of these exceptional fabrics were grown without any use of chemical, these textiles are organic. No need to use chemicals to wash antique textiles, a good simple natural soap such as the savon de Marseille is fine for every kind of linen. The textiles can be machine washed on warm. The warmer ithey will be washed, the softer and floppier they will turn. Again, no need to use a softener, a dash of white vinegar or a spoon of baking soda are perfect to maintain these wonderful textiles. Dry them on the line if possible, expose them under sun light to brighten the natural white. information The textiles I propose show signs of times, marks that are a moving, precious treasure which attests a bygone era. I will always try to describe them as accuratly as possible, giving many details, measurements and pictures to show the reality of the linen.
