Description: Very unique "Reunion" Bowie with non-original, but old case. Believe this to be a Civil War Reunion commemorative bowie knife. It is heavily etched "Union and Liberty" on the left side of the mirror finish blade. The grip is heavy bronze (est. 5lbs+) and sculpted with "Liberty and Union" above the ferrule with U.S. Eagle with arrows & branches in its claws. Grip has a Union Shield near the pommel. Both sides of the grip are sculpted the same. Maker name of Williams Rodgers, Sheffield, England is on the left side of the blade near ricasso, and "I Cut My Way" is stamped on the right side. The case is old, but not original to the knife although it fits very well and is a great way to display the knife. The case has functioning snaps to secure the knife. No sheath. I'm unsure of the provenance of this knife and it could be Spanish American War vintage, but I think you'll see the engraving and especially the ornate grip would indicate Civil War Union unit vintage. These CW veteran reunions were held all the way into the 1930's. A great historic knife that will compliment an advanced collection.
