Description: This is a beautiful antique pierced sterling silver sugar basket with a cobalt glass liner. It is marked Black Starr & Frost & Sterling on the bottom. It measures 4 1/4" wide, 3" deep and 2 1/2" tall with the handle down (4 7/8" tall with the handle up). I'm assuming this is for sugar, it is too large for salt. The swing handle does not stay in the up position unless you balance it. There is a place on one side for a monogram but it is blank. The silver alone weighs 88 grams. The cobalt insert is in excellent condition with no chips or cracks. You will be pleased. It is a very pretty piece.
