Description: Fine antique Arts and Crafts red oak fire place screen with large needlepoint landscape and home. This solid oak mission period screen measures 29 1/8" high, 21 7/8" wide and 7 1/2" deep at feet or base. The needlepoint scene is exceptionally finely done in a painterly impressionist style with different stitches,The scene itself is covered in the original glass and measures 19 1/2" by 19 1/2". Note the finished edges of the framed needlework. The sides of the frame are notched entirely through the feet (see photos) in the style of Stickley and other premiere American arts and crafts furniture manufacturers of the early 20th century. The oak grain is wonderful and appears to be quartersawn to really expose the exciting grain. No makers marks I can find though a previous owner has written some numbers on the bottom. Not certain if this piece is American but I would guess it is and looks to have been made circa 1920.All facets of this screen are extremely well done.Though called a fireplace screen one absolutely does not need a fireplace to display this gorgeous little piece of furniture anywhere. It is strong and sits very stably on floor or surface. A gem of a small piece of furniture.Condition is original and very good. No damage or repair, just exceptional and original condition.Shipped securely in a perfect box.Questions always welcome and thanks for looking.
