Antique 48 STAR American Ship Flag Bunting New England Boat Maritime Patriotic

Description: Antique, Early New England Maritime, 48 STAR Ship Flag ~ American Flag Bunting! This incredible, wonderful old American ship flag, bunting, measures 29" wide approx. across the indigo with stars and 31" approx. across the red and white panel x 168" long approx. Just imagine this beautiful, red, white and blue flag waving in the wind on a tall New England ship! The off white stars are on a ground of deep natural indigo (resist dyed). There some tiny holes within this area and a tear near the binding/grommets on both the left and right side. The deep indigo/ecru stars is a very fine, thin weave. The red and white striped panel is a thicker more open weave but remains lightweight as well. Zoom in to view the incredible weave in both areas. The red and white striped panel has some hole areas ~ nothing huge. The off white area shows some timeworn patina ~ tea~like water stains as shown in the photos. The colors are beautiful in person as well as the textile (weave) itself. What an amazing piece of history! This American flag would be beautiful displayed. This old bunting has a whole lot of charm and a very primitive appearance. Condition: Wonderful, old primitive condition. Not brittle. Some smallish~ tiny holes throughout~ many areas are without and in great condition ~ see photos. Some fade lines and one area on the red gently faded.
