Description: Antique RH (right hand) hewing axe OVB (Our Very Best) HSB & Co. (Hibbard, Spencer, Bartlett) Chicago. This head is RARE marked on both sides. Etched and stamped on beveled side and stamped on straight side. Also stamped "J J"- see last picture. Nice aged patina, old pitting on both sides, chipped butt-pictured. It looks better in hand The head is 7" long with a 5 7/8" bit, ~2 7/16" x 1 3/16" butt. Weighs 3 lb .9 oz- 1380 g. Lovely bell sound temper.
