Description: Andre de Toth Signed Paper with Photo attached to 8 1/2 x 11 Cardboard in very good condition Signed "To Howard Andre de Toth" It was "Ramrod" (1947), though, that first brought him widespread attention. A Western drama featuring Veronica Lake, Charles Ruggles and Joel McCrea, it was acclaimed for its spectacular black-and-white photography (by Russell Harlan) and for its strong cast. The film also established what has come to be perceived as the major theme that runs through nearly all of de Toth's work: the vagaries of human relationships. Among his many films are "Spontaneous Combustion" with Brian Dourif (1990), "Terror Night" with John Ireland (1987), "El Condor" (1970), "Play Dirty" with Michael Caine(1968), "Billion Dollar Brain" (1967), "Day of The Outlaw" (1959), "Monkey On My Back" (1957), "Hidden Fear" (1957), "Tanganyika" (1954), "Crime Wave" with Sterling Hayden (1954), "Pitfall" with Lizabeth Scott and Dick Powell (1948), "Dark Waters" with Merle Oberon and Franchot Tone (1944), "None Shall Escape" with Marsha Hunt (1944), "Jungle Book" with Sabu (1942), "Lydia" with Merle Oberon and Joseph Cotten (1941), "Lawrence of Arabia" with Peter O'Toole and Omar Shariff (1962), and "Thief of Baghdad" with Sabu and Conrad Veidt (1940). His best known film is "House of Wax" (1953), starring Vincent Price. It was also considered the best 3-D film ever. He was married to actress Veronica Lake from December 13, 1944 to June 1952.
