Description: AMMONITE FOSSILS We acquired a parcel of fossilized AMMONITE specimens from Madagascar. They came in a variety of sizes so we sorted them into 5 size categories. The largest two size groups of specimens are sold by the individual fossil. This lot is sold by the half-pound. Ammonite fossils are most desirable when Ammolite is present (the remarkable iridescent coloring is Ammolite). Ammolite is found in varying amounts in almost all of these specimens. It is best in natural light and does not always show up in photos. Many of the specimens also display the beautiful suture patterns. I have noted at least three species of Ammonite in this parcel. Over 10,000 species have been identified in the fossil record, first appearing around 416 million years ago. They are cephalopods, like octopus and squid. Grade: Very Good to A Grade SIZE: 1-1/2 to 2". The package contains around a half-pound of fossils. Some might have a bit more or less. COUNT: 8-11 ORIGIN: Mainterano, Madagascar PICTURES: The first 2 pictures show the two sides of the actual fossil you will receive. The last photo shows a number of similar fossils in this lot. The fossils are photographed dry. Listing and template services provided by inkFrog
