Alfa Romeo 8C Spider Comp - RARE Handbook Supplement - Euro Spec German

Description: This auction is for an original Alfa Romeo handbook supplement (KURZANLEITUNG FAHRZEG) featuring German text, which would have been destined for an owner of an 8C Spider Competizione, in European specification, as an addition to the full standard handbook. The 8C Competizione was introduced as a concept car at the 2003 Frankfurt Motor Show and, despite a 3.0 litre engined prototype being built, did not initially seem destined for production. The 8C name had previously been used by Alfa Romeo for their road, race and sports cars of the 1930s, referencing the straight 8-Cylinder engine. Eventually, in 2006, a Limited Edition of 500 cars was announced, which were built from 2007-2009.A further Limited Edition was announced in 2007, with 500 of the Spider convertible version built from 2008-2010. The production cars used a modified Maserati platform and a Ferrari built V8 4.7 litre engine, with the carbon fibre Alfa Romeo body-shell fitted to the steel chassis, and the final vehicle assembly being carried out on the Maserati production line at Modena. The book, measuring 21cm x 10.5cm, opens out concertina-fashion to 7 times this size allowing 12 small inner pages to hold the information chosen by Alfa Romeo from the main handbook. All of the text in this version is in German only. This, as the name conveys, is a shortened version of the full handbook bringing together the instructions covering the main controls and functions of the car but supplements the full handbook rather than, in any way, replacing it. There is no factory catalogue identification number on the book, but the date is confirmed on the rear ‘cover’ in Italian with Edizione 05/2009, for May '09. This VERY RARE (due to the Limited Edition production and country-specific market), now 15 years old and owner-unused, book is in very good condition with minimal markings of any kind.
