Description: I am selling my 30-year collection of Pre-Columbian and Oceanic art. The cultures represented include Maya, Aztec, Casas Grandes, Inca, Moche, Chimu, Tairona, Olmec, Chinesco, Lambayeque, Nazca, New Hebrides, Solomon Islands, Fijian, Sepik, etc. Some large items (for example, clubs) are not in the pics due to size but will be included in the sale. I started studying Spanish when I was 13 years of age and when I was 15, I collected my 1st piece of Pre-Columbian art. That summer and in between high school years, I left my parents and 6-siblings a letter them them not to worry, and took a bus to O'Hare Airport and spent 3 months in Mexico City and its surroundings, I just had to see the pyramids at Teotihuacán! But, of course, Mexico was a different country than now. I went on to be a Spanish Professor of dual-credit HS and college students and a Bilingual Teacher, grades 3-8 for 25 years. My best classes were with my recent immigrant students, mainly from Mexico. It was a pleasure and honor to help those students acculturate and to aid them in their English language acquisition. When on summer break, I would travel throughout Latin America to study the Pre-Columbian art in the museums throughout the Spanish-speaking diaspora. The main reason why I am selling my collection is that I am moving to Latin America soon. Even though all of these pieces were collected before the cultural heritage treaties and international laws, it would still be illegal to move a Jalisco pottery figure from the US to Mexico. I have sold my house in Dallas and am closing January 10th and will be moving shortly after. I don't want to have to put them back into storage. These treasures should be exhibited and appreciated for their esoteric beauty and cultural heritage. My suggestion is if you are on the Southwest Airlines fly route to Dallas, I am 8-10 minutes from Love Field. You will be able to pick-out the pieces that you prefer totaling the amount paid. And again, my collection was assembled over decades. Please contact me with any question.
